AUTOSTRADA IS IMPLEMENTING A LARGE-SCALE PROJECT AROUND THE CLOCK - THE CONSTRUCTION OF MAIN WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM ON THE SECTION “ZAPORIZHZHIA - TOMAKIVKA – MARHANETS”
The Autostrada team finishes laying the pipeline (the total length of the section is 77 km). Backfilling of fiberglass pipes with sand is underway. Since the pressure in the pipes will be significant, this process takes place in several stages: after each backfill, the sand is rammed with vibrating plates, and the pipes are fixed with special concrete structures on the corners (turns).
In parallel, we are building 6 pumping stations that will pump 150 thousand cubic meters of water per day. We are currently manufacturing monolithic frames, concreting monolithic slabs and walls (monolithic walling has already been completed at three stations). Soon we will start covering the precast concrete slabs, and then installing water shut-off equipment inside the stations. Each station will be equipped with four pumps – two main and two backup pumps. 24 pumps are planned to be installed at this site in total.
We are installing switching chambers and precast concrete wells throughout the site. The switching chambers regulate the pressure and water level. The chambers will also be used to remove water in the event of accident or repair on the pipeline.
About 500 employees are working on the construction of the water supply system 24/7, and more than 200 pieces of equipment are involved.
The water pipeline is scheduled to be launched in December this year.
The project aims to solve a critical water supply problem in the south of Ukraine, particularly in Dnipropetrovsk region. More than a million people are left without water due to the explosion of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant. Hospitals, schools and kindergartens are also without water supply.
